long, long break + poll

Almost two months since my last post. That´s quite a while.
Too many different things going on (all good) keep me from writing, but I´ll try to post a series soon on games as creativity tools.

Which reminds me, here´s a new poll:
Which upcoming product will be a good creativity tool? and which one will reach a broader audience?

You might need to access the page to see the flash poll.

Chico! Glad to hear things are going well for you, m'man.

Metaplace is being specifically designed to allow the audience to create whatever it wants. It's like the early days of LEGO when the pieces were all pretty generic and the mini-figs only had simple smiley faces.

Spore is much more akin to the newer themed LEGO sets with a lot of custom parts. You can still mix and match the spaceship parts, but you still wind up with something that looks like a spaceship. And, of course, EA will be promoting Spore to the hilt, with all the weight and money they can bring to bear. After all, Spore has cost them quite a lot of development money and they're going to insist they get that back.

Looking forward to your upcoming posts!

Hello Corvus! thanks for posting!

I am aware of the fundamental differences between Spore and Metaplace. However, complete as Metaplace seems to be, you have to wonder if they will be able to deliver something usable by the broad audience they aim for. Not that I don´t have faith in it, I actually do!

Take care!
