Again, it all comes down to the fact that the game's visuals must mesh well with the other narrative elements. Attempting a photo-realistic look on the Wii and DS would be madness. The presentation components simply aren't up to the task.
Okami's stylistic visuals are perfect for the game play, regardless of platform. Sly Cooper benefits from a cartoony style. Would Half Life 2 be the same experience with a 'toon render? No, it wouldn't.
Still, I tend to prefer cartoony and stylistic games. I'm actually going to dove tail off this poll for my post on Zelda today.
True. Generally, visuals must match narrative and gameplay experiences, in fact contributing to them. I`ve been planing to write more extensively on the relationship between visuals and gameplay.

That´s also true - Looks like I´m doing a qualitative researched based on quantitative methods...
Still, I assume readers have similar interests to my own (as player and/or designer). Gathering these opinions is always good to reflect on my opinions (hey, that one about game-related art was quite helpful. The upgrade one also).
